The Paliath Achan & the Achans of Paliam Realizing the vision of God's country in Chendamangalam In Chendamangalam, a synagogue, temple, church and mosque stand witness to a centuries old tradition of diversity and acceptance. According to a local Jewish song entitled "The Song of Paliath Achan", this noble family "bestowed" gifts of books to all those who come, and titles to foreigners. They exempted Jewish students and teachers from classes on Saturdays, the Jewish Shabbat. The Paliam family continues to welcome Jewish delegations. Sharihariprasad, the son of a Paliath Achan and the guru of the Vishnu Mohan Foundation, has taken a special interest in promoting cultural harmony across India, spreading knowledge about Indian Jews and supporting the restoration of the synagogue.
